Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre welcomes volunteers to help out in various capacities. If you have good skills in arts or museum admin, office, archives, marketing or retail we would love to speak with you. We also welcome any skills in relation to our Café and mill, plus art making, landscape gardening or carpentry work for making and stretching canvas. We offer a unique opportunity to meet and engage with our team and the Aboriginal artists and workers on site.

If you would like to come for a week or a month, don’t hesitate to contact us. Let us know your set of skills and interests and we will work to ensure your experience with us is as mutually rewarding as possible (if there is a vacancy available).

Some common tasks a general volunteer would be required to do include:

  • Collecting found materials

  • Stretching and priming canvas

  • Mixing paints and washing brushes

  • Photographing artworks

  • Taking care of senior artists

  • General filing, ordering and database entry

  • Making morning tea and lunches

  • Keeping the shop, office, tools and grounds clean and well ordered

Volunteering is unpaid, however, accommodation is provided.

Researchers & interns

Nyinkka is keen to work with researchers who may be able to contribute to our community, artists, Mukurtu cultural archives and museum. We are also open to working together on various projects suitable for internships if you agree to abide by the appropriate protocols. Please contact us via email with your ideas, interests and references.
